Someone has left this crumb in a book. There was no additional evidence of mold on this page; however, elsewhere in the book mold had taken advantage of the food source, then moved on to attack the book. Ultimately, the book had to be discarded. If there had been no mold, we could have saved the book by removing this and any other crumbs carefully with a sharp knife, then cleaning with rubbing alcohol.
