These marks are similar to foxing, with an all-over appearance. Notice how there is a clean edge where the darker tones stop (arrow). This suggests that someone stored paper with high acid content inside this book. The acid reacted with the book’s paper and moisture in the air to create these marks. The book is fine, although stained. |
