Some books are covered with white marks similar to these, consisting of paper fibers rubbed off on the book’s cover. In contrast, this book had a moldy odor that led to closer inspection. The white areas are embedded into the fibers of the book’s cover and spread across the cover rather than developing spontaneously and evenly across the whole cover. |
