Who says mold can’t engage our baser impulses? Here, a blue-green mold is attacking the dust jacket of a book about the reproductive behavior of invertebrates. Notice the obvious hyphae surrounded by a dark edge of encroachment. The hyphae are raised off the paper surface. There are several colonies of this mold, and the book shows signs of damage from moisture. It is likely that the plastic dust jacket cover held moisture in, allowing mold to grow.
