Mold was found growing underneath this dust jacket cover. Blue dye from the book cover’s fabric leached onto the paper of the dust jacket cover due to moisture damage. The plastic held this moisture in, allowing mold to start growing. Some of the mold is a similar blue to the dye, while some is a dark grey-brown. Darker lines of blue show dimensionality, indicating the presence of mold. To the right of the image you can see a darker brownish grey area, which is another mold colony.
